ABOUT ME

2012

ENGINEERING PHYSCIS

In 2012 I started studying Engineering Physics at Fontys University. My main interest here was in optics but of course I learned about a broad number of fields, touching on electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, programming, mathematics etc. Apart from the broad knowledge I gathered on specific topics from lectures, in this bachelor we learned to act as a translator between people from different engineering fields and how to set up and conduct scientific experiments.

2014 - 2017

INTERNSHIPS

I did a minor in Health and Technology and two internships, one at ASML and my graduation internship at Philips Research, here I studied hyperspectral imaging as a method of distinguishing cancerous from healthy tissue during surgery. While studying I got a teaching assistant job teaching physics to first year students of Applied Science at Fontys.

2017 - 2019

WORK EXPERIENCE

After graduating I worked at VDL Fibertech Industries as a technician for six months. Here I was tasked to fix broken machinery used in the resin transfer moulding production processes. This included learning various metal working techniques, electrical engineering, and process automatization. After this I worked as a project engineer for Enter, being shortly deployed at ASML and for eight months at imec.

2019

PREMASTER INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

I started the pre-master at ID in February 2019, and subsequently the master the following semester. During the first year of the master, I worked parttime at EAISI (Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute), where I built demos for the AI Experience Lab. These demos intend to make the research surrounding AI that takes place at the university more tangible and interactive.

2022 - 2023

MASTER INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

I started the master Industrial Design at the University of Technology Eindhoven in the autumn semester of 2020. Here, I mainly focussed on speculative and critical design in the projects and centred my electives around studying philosophy. In addition to the regular master program I pursued the Philosophy and Ethics of Technology certificate.

2022 - 2023

PROJECTS ABROAD

I spend the spring semester of 2022 working on a project in Lisbon at ITI (Interactive Technologies Institute LARSyS). Here I collaborated with a team of professional designers on an art installation for an art festival in Viseu, Portugal. The following year I worked on my final master project about homelessness at aquí in Barcelona, a small design studio focussed on improving public city spaces.

Always

ON THE SIDE

Regardless of what I studied or where I worked, in my spare time I’ve always been creating. The means of doing so seems to have a way of alternating in phases, but includes (or has included) sewing, drawing, painting, 3D-printing, woodworking, upholstery, ceramics, cooking, writing, etc. These varying hobbies left me with an extensive repertoire of practical skills.
